あと、新刊タイトルのこと。
「ツキミノヨル」は最初から「月見の夜」と「月魅の夜」をかけるつもりだったのですが、イベ当日に気づいた「月夜・実る」のアナグラムだなって。偶然。あと実ってないけど。実ると、いいね・・・！
Okay this is about Katakura Kojuro and Date Masamune from Sengoku Basara; this has bugged me for a few days.
I have stumbled upon on a few opinions concerning Kojuro, and….not positive ones. And look it’s completely fine to dislike a character, people have different tastes anyway. But the reasonings for this dislike towards Kojuro do bother me, especially this one; “I never liked Kojuro simply for the fact that he is Date’s slave.” “He doesn’t do anything except try and boast Date’s ego. He doesn’t have his own personality or dreams.”And opinions like these lead to the conclusion that Masamune is, as one person put it; “He is arrogant, emotionless, self-centered asshole. I pity Katakura for his devotion because Date obviously doesn’t care for anyone else except himself.”
And now prepare for ridiculously tl;dr fan rant.
Now Kojuro; he has his own free will, and he has chosen to stay with Masamune’s side. He has a personality. He loves gardening, is a VERY good fighter, has weird obsession with leeks, and is one of those guys who look tough on the outside but are weirdly funny and gentle on the inside. He’s very intimidating, and looks it too, but underneath he’s righteous and quite kind hearted. Also, to me he seems like one of the strongest characters both physically and mentally. And he is smart. And you know what? Maybe his dream IS to help Masamune. If that is what he wants then I don’t think anyone has anything to say about it. Adding to that, he’s willing to beat some sense into Masamune… A slave would be too scared to even try that. He doesn’t agree with everything. He is often worried of Masamune’s antics and acts as his voice of reason. He has his own mind and reasonings. But Masamune just happens to be the most important individual in his life. You fuck with Date Masamune and Kojuro will destroy you.
Masamune. You know what I think? I think under that arrogant ganster imago there is an insecure brat that never get any love or appreciation from his mom, and who had to fight for what he is now. He wants to show that he is worthy of his title.
Kojuro… pretty much fills most of the important roles in Masamune’s life. He stayed with him when Masamune lost the use of his eye and gave him constant, reliable support when he needed it the most. I know he has burning souls with Sanada Yukimura and how even the staff talks how important Yukimura is to Masamune and how amusingly gay they are and all that jazz but really; Kojuro is easily the single most important person in Masamune’s life, and Masamune literally never even imagines life without him. It’s entirely different with Kojuro because it’s like having a guardian/bff/bro/life partner all packed into one, so it’s rather hard to describe their relationship, and it’s not like there’s even need to it anyway.
It’s also not even a stretch to say Kojuro is the person Masamune realizes he loves most even if he would sooner stab himself in the foot than admit that out loud. He is too proud. But you know what happens to him if you take Kojuro away. Even if he does give hard time for Kojuro, he really does care about what he thinks of him and whenever Kojuro isn’t pleased or is disappointed it does hurt him because he wants Kojuro to be proud and not to regret for choosing to stay with him.
Also, like everyone knows Masamune thinks Kojuro is the only one who can guard his back and serve as his right-eye. Adding to that, Kojuro is the only person Masamune feels safe enough with to be able to go without his eyepatch around, and that says a lot. The hard times Masamune gives Kojuro are never meant to be mean or anything, they’re just Masa being Masa and he knows Kojuro understands that. Because you know, he knows Masamune better than anyone. Yes he can be a goddamn brat, like if he feels he isn’t getting enough attention. But remember that when he was younger (and after that) he only really get attention and affection from Kojuro. He is used to it, expects it, and wants it when he doesn’t have it. He doesn’t care? You know in the manga he was crying over his entire army’s death but seriously. He dragged himself over to KOJURO & CRIED over KOJURO’S body. That speaks for itself. Date was crying…… Date Masa-fuckin-mune was CRYING. YOU SEE HATERS? DATE DOES HAVE EMOTION. HE DOES CARE. YES HE IS ARROGANT BUT ARROGANT ISN’T = EMOTIONLESS SELF-CENTERED ASSHOLE.
